Abstract(in English) | As the use of Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) equipment in a network offers the potential for monitoring application types used and traffic volume in each server more easily, it could simplify dramatically the conventional work load for system management and accelerate the control action. In the light of potential, we proposed to use a DPI equipment to estimate CPU usage of each server by constantly monitoring the number of TCP live connections, so as to prevent server congestion. This paper proposes two new congestion control methods with DPI technology. In the first method, a DPI equipment in a network estimates the usage rate of access bandwidth of each server by constantly monitoring the volume of traffic sent or received, and move some of virtual machines on the congested server to other servers through remote control timely. In the second method, DPI equipment monitors the volume of each traffic flow in the SDN-based network and estimate the utilization of each line with the information on network route and line each traffic flow is passing through. The DPI equipment requests to divert some of traffic flows through the congested line to the different route. Finally, the feasibility of the proposed methods is demonstrated by an evaluation system with a real DPI equipment. |
