Reduction of computational cost in image compression using Wavelet Packet based on clustering by similarity of probability distribution

Abstract(in English) The conventional method of Wavelet Packet whose 2-D frequency domain is divided into some subband adequately considering the characteristics of input image has been determined both the optimum band pattern and the optimum combination of quantizers using linear quantizer. In order to improve the coding performance of the conventional method, this paper presents a new Wavelet Packet using the combination of the non-linear quantizers under the lower computational costs. Our experimental results show that PSNR of the proposed method is 0.25[dB] higher than the conventional method.
