Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | We investigated whether changes in stereoscopic visual depth and ground vibration amplitude had any impact on the subjective perception of presence and verisimilitude. The multimodal contents used in our experiment consisted of a 3D recording of a passing train, seen from the side of the railroad, and included the ground vibrations caused by the train. Our results showed the perceived verisimilitude to be stronger than the sense-of-presence when 3D visual contents were viewed in combination with weak ground vibrations. Furthermore, the growth of verisimilitude evaluation scale saturated earlier as a function of the vibration amplitude when 3D video was used instead of 2D. Unlike the previous reports, we found that that both metrics, sense-of-presence and verisimilitude, tended to saturate as the intensity of ground vibration becomes larger under the augmented perceived depth condition. |
