Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) When a visual cue appears shortly before a presentation of a line stimulus and the position of the cue corresponds to that of a edge of the line, a motion impression of which the line is drawn from the cue to another edge of the line can occur (illusory line motion; Hikosaka et al., 1993) . We compared the perception of illusory line motion among 3 school age groups (6-7, 8-9, and 10-11 years, respectively) and adults with 12 visual stimuli (2 cue positions [left/ right] vs. 6 time intervals from appearance of visual cue to appearance of line [cue-lead-time; CLT]). These results indicated that the perception of illusory line motion develops between 8-9-year-olds and 10-11-year-olds.
