Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Developmental studies have revealed that 9 and 10-month-olds understand the relationship between others’ facial expressions and their behavior. However, when infants begin to understand this relationship is unclear. So, the present study investigated whether 6-month-olds use facial expressions to predict the expresser’s helping or hindering behavior. The results indicate that 6-month-olds predict that a person with an angry expression will not help others, whereas they do not make a clear prediction whether a person with a happy expression will help others or not.
