Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this research, we conducted web based survey about consumers’ understanding and impression on new functional component using fictional news report. Since new food labeling system of functional food started from April, 2015, it is expected the increase of food choice for ordinal consumers. However, it might be difficult for consumers to understand correctly and to find foods suit their needs from flood of information. We introduced three cognitive indexes, Cognitive Reflection Test, Numeracy, and Graph literacy to investigate the influence of cognitive traits on the reading comprehension and interpretation. As a result, we found that Graph literacy was correlated with accuracy of information understanding and other two indexes were correlated with psychological factor of interpretation.
