| Abstract(in English) | In medical applications of image analysis, initial motivation and idea are typically provided by clinical needs. The engineering researchers (computer scientists) may hope to not only derive effective solutions for the clinical needs (although providing the solutions itself is not an easy task) but also make efforts to perform scientifically significant researches and/or formulate generally applicable novel methodologies. Furthermore, they may hope that these efforts can provide the seeds to inspire novel clinical interests or discover potential clinical needs. In this talk, the author describes his experience on trial-and-error efforts towards this synergistic cycle of medical-engineering collaborations, especially on research topics of computer assisted surgery and computation anatomy. Finally, future perspectives of integrative research relating medical image analysis are discussed. |
