Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) All large-scale systems such as biological systems, social systems, and artificial systems consist of multiple layers both functionally and structurally. A global pattern or behavior of a system emerges from mutual interaction among entities belonging to the same layer and those belonging to different layers. In this paper, taking flocking as an example of self-organization, I discuss and analyze influence of strength of intra and inter-layer interaction and their timescale on emergence of self-organizing behavior.
