Abstract(in English) | In reconstructive and resection surgery of gastrointestinal organ, accurate diagnosis of organ viability is strongly required. However, it is difficult to discriminate a small difference of organ’s color by visual inspection. Then, we focus on the tissue oxygen saturation (StO2) that represents balance of oxygen demand and supply in tissue. On the basis of Beer-Lambert law, we determine an organ absorbance model considering scattering effect in tissue and estimate intraoperative gastrointestinal StO2. With the aim of easy-to-use in clinical situation, we have developed a practical prototype device to measure organ absorbance in which we use some red and near-infrared LEDs and a photo detector. Results of in vivo evaluation experiments using swine small intestine suggested the usefulness of the proposed method for quantification of intraoperative gastrointestinal viability. |
