Proposal and verification of bipolar DFQ amplifier

Abstract(in English) To realize AC voltage standard, researches of frequency modulation (FM) type SFQ-D/A converters have been conducted. We have used a double flux quantum amplifier (DFQA) as a voltage multiplier in the FM-SFQ-D/A converters. The SFQ-D/A converters need to generate bipolar voltage output for application of AC voltage standard. Since the conventional DFQA has different multiplication factors in bipolar output, the conventional DFQA cannot be used for bipolar output of SFQ-D/A converters. In this paper, we propose a bipolar DFQA of bias switching type (BS-BDFQA) and a bipolar DFQA of series connection type (SC-BDFQA). We confirmed that both of the DFQAs conducted bipolar voltage multiplication. We also propose and verify bipolar SFQ-D/A converters comprising a BS-BDFQA and a SC-BDFQA. While the bipolar SFQ-D/A converter comprising the BS-BDFQA generated bipolar voltage output, spike noise was generated when voltage polarity was switched. The bipolar SFQ-D/A converter comprising the SC-BDFQA succeeded to generate bipolar voltage output without spike noise.
