Prototype of Ku-band Outphase Amplifier for Millimeter-wave Wireless Communication System

Abstract(in English) In recent years, communication traffic is increasing because of explosive spread of wireless mobile terminals. Millimeter-wave wireless communication system which can ensure a wide band attracts attention for a measure to the frequency shortage. For millimeter-wave wireless communication devices of system-on-chip which enable to be fabricated by refinement of CMOS process, complicated modulation systems like multilevel QAM are difficult by decline of dynamic range. By using outphase modulation which doesn't use the amplitude direction for transmission, complicated signal processing which is unconnected to decline of dynamic range puts into practice. In addition, it is possible to acheive high power efficiency and signal linearity with nonlinear amplifiers. This paper presents the simulation of 180 degree hybrid circuits and CMOS circuit elements which are necessary to compose outphase amplifiers, the study of a principle experiment of outphase amplifiers.
