Abstract(in English) Radio over fiber technology in a millimeter-wave bands has been demonstrated with a heterodyne-based detection technique. However, on this heterodyne receiver, required bandwidth for an intermediate frequency amplifier and analog-to-digital converter is at least twice the modulation speed of the receiving signal. The direct conversion technique helps realize dramatic reduction of the required bandwidth, but an IQ imbalance of a frequency downconverter is significantly issued. In this study, we evaluated the IQ imbalance of the W-band IQ down-conversion mixer under 1–10 Gbaud quadrature phase-shift keying transmission by the RoF technology.
