Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This study aims to investigate the causalities between college students’ media usage and their Internet literacy, including social skill’s effects on them. We conducted a panel survey targeting college students and an analysis of “cross- lagged effect model” based on 107 students’ responses. The following results were clarified. (a) Over 90% used LINE and Twitter, while over half of them did not use Facebook. (b) Compared to LINE usage, college students perceived that they can make new friends through usages of Twitter and Facebook. (c) Not only their frequency of using Facebook (browsing and posting), but also their social skills influenced their Internet literacy of Twitter/Facebook usage. Additionally, their social skills had positive effects on their Internet literacy of LINE usage, which led them to access the Internet via smartphones longer.
