Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a widely known cross-sectional imaging modality which performs micrometer-scale, cross-sectional tomographic imaging in ophthalmology. The layer information from retinal volumetric data is extracted by the automated segmentation software. Such disease-related thickness map is used not only for follow-up the patient in normal diagnosis routine, but clinical trial study to observe the drug response. Nevertheless of the system improvement of high speed, high sensitivity, and high resolution of the OCT instruments, one of the growing research field is the development of the quantitative analysis software. It is interesting to say that the needs from ophthalmologist, seeds from engineers, and opportunity of business expansion are well matched to improve the diagnosis in posterior eye.
