Frequency-Stabilized Millimeter-Wave Signal Generation by Optical Frequency Locked-Loop and Optical Frequency Comb Technologies

Abstract(in English) To meet the demand of high-speed radio communications, higher frequency radio such as a millimeter-wave and terahertz wave signals is a promising solution. An optical technology can be applicable for generation of high-frequency radio waves by optical heterodyning. However, two free running lasers provides relatively large frequency fluctuation of the resultant beat frequency. In this study, we propose a frequency-stabilized millimeter-wave signal generation by the beat frequency generated by free-running lasers using an optical frequency locked loop (OFLL) technique configured with a feed-forward control. A combination of optical frequency comb (OFC) and OFLL for higher frequency millimeter-wave signal generation is also discussed.
