Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Carriers are now considering application of NFV to their networks. Towards NFV, transport functions such as firewall and VPN are implemented in software and they are also virtualized. While transport functions need to process wide band traffic with low latency, high-speed packet processing technologies such as Intel DPDK has improved the throughput and the latency of a single function. However, the throughput and the delay when combining multiple functions (e.g. service chaining) have not been taken into consideration enough and there are some problems, such as the increase of the throughput of switches and the increase of the latency. In this paper, we clarify requirements for allocation of transport functions to servers and propose a method which locates a series of functions on one server. The proposed method also determines the server which utilize the resource of servers, such as CPU cores and memory, most effectively. An evaluation of the proposed method has confirmed that the method can reduce the unused resource by 65% in average.
