[Poster Presentation] A study of convolutional coded OOK system using multi-color LED for high-speed underwater visible light communications

Abstract(in English) In this study, we consider a high-speed underwater visible light communications that use convolutional coded on-off keying systems. Moreover, we also present the convolutional coded on-off keying systems with multi-color LEDs for improving error-performance under different conditions of water type. In this system, when the code ratio of convolutional code is 1/R, we use Nc(= 1, 2, ... , R) colors for transmitting R signals. We simulate and evaluate the bit-error-rate (BER) performance of this proposed system taking into account an LED modulation bandwidth, and water condition defined by chlorophyll density. As a results, the BER performances of the proposed system are better than those of uncoded OOK systems, and convolutional coded OOK system with single-color LED. In particular when data rate is 50 Mbps, Eb/N0 required with BER is 10^{-5} can be improved with 3dB compared with the uncoded OOK systems.
