[Invited Talk] The ICNALE: A New Learner Corpus for International Contrastive Interlanguage Analysis

Abstract(in English) Contrastive interlanguage analysis based on learner corpora seems to be a promising approach to studies in second language acquisition. Many of learner corpora ever compiled, however, do not control topics and conditions for L2 productions in an appropriate way, which makes it difficult to discuss learners’ L2 use from a quantitative viewpoint. This paper illustrates the principles, development, and application of the ICNALE, a newly compiled large-scale learner corpus including speeches and essays by Asian learners of English.
