Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Kanji is necessary not only for sighted persons, but also for visually impaired persons however it is difficult for totally blind persons to learn kanji. Therefore, we have developed a kanji learning system using tangible kanji element cards. By using our system blind persons can learn kanji structures by putting kanji element cards together on the table. The software of the system automatically judges whether kanji is assembled or not by the image recognition algorithm. When kanji element cards are located at an appropriate position and kanji is completed, the pronunciation and the meaning of the kanji are fed back by speech.
