Liquid Volume Estimation by Single-board computer toward Simple Urine Volume Management

Abstract(in English) Inpatients of cardiovascular disease need to measure urine volume every day in order to manage water content in the body. A method of liquid flow estimation by a single camera have been proposed in the previous research for urine volume measurement. This study aims to manage urine volume using single-board computer and camera module, and realizes liquid volume estimation by general-purpose camera. There were ploblems to be solved due to easing the camera specification such as frame rate and shutter system in previous research. This paper describes binarization method to reduce the effect of light occurring in the binarized image by changing the shutter system. In addition, we propose a robust derivation method to noise in calculating approximated quadratic curve of discharged liquid in binary image. From these proposal methods, we suggest effectiveness of our proposed method when estimating liquid volume by general-purpose and low-cost single-board computer and camera module.
