Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | An arteriovenous fistula is constructed in the forearm of the patient with chronic kidney failure for the hemodialysis treatment. Frequent maintenance of the fistula is essential to prevent its stenosis and occlusion. To realize a practical maintenance technique, we have developed a transillumination imaging technique to visualize the blood vessel in the fistula. The image was severely blurred due to the strong scattering in the body tissue. The deconvolution technique with a point-spread-function (PSF) is useful to suppress this scattering effect. We have used the PSF of uniform scattering medium and the scattering suppression was insufficient, so far. In this study, we newly developed a technique to apply the PSF’s layer-by-layer with different optical parameters for each layer of scattering medium. The effectiveness of the proposed technique was examined in the experiment using the model phantom that simulated the blood vessel in the fistula. The result showed better scattering suppression than the previous technique with the PSF for homogeneous scattering medium. Through this analysis, the feasibility to attain better spatial resolution in the visualization of the blood vessel structure using the proposed technique was verified. |
