Abstract(in English) In this study, we conduct a questionnaire survey to clarify social media usage of Chinese international and Japanese students. Japanese students use mainly LINE, Twitter and Facebook. LINE is used for communication. Twitter and Facebook are used for communication and information gathering. In Twitter, many students tend to use pseudonym accounts and restrict messages to friends only. Chinese International students use mainly WeChat, Weibo and LINE. WeChat and LINE are used for communication. Weibo are used for information gathering. In Weibo, most of Chinese international students do not use real name accounts and half of them do not restrict messages to friends. In either group, we find some behaviors possible to cause trouble, which are thought to be signs of insufficient understanding of social media specifications or lack of consideration of portrait and privacy rights.
