Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this study, we focus on the image-sensor-based visible light communication (VLC) for the intelligent transport system (ITS). As one of disadvantages of the image-sensor-based VLC, this receiver suffers from the degradation of the captured image with increasing the communication distance. In this case, it is difficult to correctly recover data because the captured image blurs owing to defocusing. To overcome this problem, we propose a novel demodulation method using blurred captured image to recover data correctly even if the captured image blurs seriously. In the proposed method, we make pseudo blinking pattern images which are imitations of all LED blinking pattern of the transmitter. The proposed method calculates a Euclidean distance of pixels between the original captured image and each pseudo blinking pattern image. Finally, we choose the smallest distance from among all Euclidean distances and determine the received LED blinking pattern from the pseudo blinking pattern image corresponding to the smallest distance. From the simulation results, we have confirmed that the proposed method improves the BER performance as compared with the conventional OOK method based on simple threshold processing.
