Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The rapid growth in the popularity of wireless local area networks causes very dense deployment of access points (APs), and it is essential to manage the contention between APs or between stations. One of the most effective approaches for mitigating the contention is an adaptive channel assignment. In this paper, our objective is to mitigate planer coverage overlap with an adaptive channel assignment and transmission power control. In particular, the adaptive channel assignment is shown to be a potential game, which forms a class of non-cooperative games, and the unilateral improvement dynamics is guaranteed to converge. Moreover, although the total overlap area is too complex to measure properly when there are a lot of APs, the proposed scheme can mitigate it indirectly in a completely distributed manner. The simulation results reveal that the proposed channel assignment indirectly mitigates the total coverage overlap area in a distributed mannerand that the proposed scheme is superior to the conventional schemes in terms of the mitigation of the planer overlap. The experimental results demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed scheme and the convergence of channel assignment dynamics in a real environment.
