Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We evaluate the restoration time of erasure coded data after large-scale disaster. The Disaster Recovery (DR) is used to continue the services provided by main site when the site stops after the disaster, e.g. earthquake. The DR is a function that backs data up to a remote site periodically and enables the backup service on the remote site after the disaster. When the main site is recovered, the DR enables the service on the main site by fail-back process. If the data in the main site is broken, the data is restored from the remote site. To reduce the restoration time, the Erasure Code (EC) can be used for the backup restore method. The EC creates some data fragments and one or more parity fragment(s) to achieve high availability as well as high restoration performance because of obtaining these fragments in parallel. In contrast, the number of sites storing these fragments is limited, and the number of data fragments and parity fragments affects the restoration performance. Especially, the number of running sites is varied in accordance with elapsed time after the large-scale disaster, so the estimations are needed to confirm the effectivity. In this paper, we run the simulation, and then, we discuss the most efficient number of these fragments.
