Selective Impulse Noise Reduction Filters Using a Group of Weighted Median Filters with Different Properties

Abstract(in English) In this paper, we propose a selective filtering technique to switch filters applied for each pixel, according to a noise measure. In this technique, a group of weighted median filters having different properties with noise reduction and original pixel reservation are designed by the method based on multi-objective optimization using genetic algorithm, and each pixel is processed by the suitable filter selected from the filter group, according to ROLD statistics. Therefore we can improve the noise reduction performance and edge preservation accuracy. In numerical examples, the effectiveness of the proposed method for texture images is shown.
