DOA Estimating Method via Toeplitz Matrices without Information of Source Number

Abstract(in English) MUSIC and ESPRIT are high accuracy methods for estimating the direction of arrival of signals using array antenna. These methods require a priori information of the number of sources and there is a problem that the estimation accuracy of these decrease in the case of multiple correlative signals. By using a symmetric ULA, Qian et al. have proposed a method (Qian's method) that form Toeplitz matrices from each row of the sample covariance matrix to decorrelate the coherency of signals, and this method does not need knowledge of number of sources. Since the sample covariance matrix is conjugate symmetric, Qian's method only use a part of set of Toeplitz matrices into estimation of DOA, that causes performance degradation in several cases. In this research, we have improved Qian's method and the numerical examples demonstrate validity of proposed method.
