Abstract(in English) | Small-cell network using distributed antennas, in which a number of antennas are spatially deployed over each macro-cell, can mitigate the negative impacts of propagation path loss, shadowing loss and frequency-selective fading and achieve a good transmission quality over entire macro-cell. An introduction of single-carrier (SC) space-time block coded (STBC) diversity using one or more distributed antennas close to user equipment (UE) can further improves the transmission quality. However, the transmission quality of a UE near the macro-cell edge is still poor compared to the cell center. In this paper, to achieve higher macro-cell edge throughput, we introduce macro-cell cooperation to small-cell network using distributed antennas (DAs) and accordingly, remove the macro-cell borders. In macro-cell cooperative STBC diversity, DAs in adjacent macro-cells are also used as the diversity branches. We evaluate, by computer simulation, the uplink capacity in the small-cell network using macro-cell cooperative STBC diversity and discuss the effect of macro-cell cooperation. |
