Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The combination of distributed antenna network (DAN), where a number of antennas are distributed within each macro cell, and multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) achieves a high system throughput. Recently, we proposed a minimum mean square error (MMSE) based joint transmit and receive linear filtering (joint Tx/Rx filtering) for downlink broadband single-carrier (SC)-MU-MIMO transmission. Joint Tx/Rx filtering simultaneously mitigates the inter-symbol interference (ISI) caused by the frequency-selectivity of the channel, the inter-antenna interference (IAI) among antennas of user equipment (UE), and the inter-user interference (IUI), and hence, achieves better transmission quality than Tx MMSE filtering which is performed by the base station only. It should be noted that joint Tx/Rx filtering can be redesigned for orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) transmission where ISI is not produced. This paper validates the effect of joint Tx/Rx filtering on DAN downlink with SC or OFDM-MU-MIMO transmissions. The received signal-to-interference plus noise power ratio (SINR) after joint Tx/Rx filtering is theoretically derived, and then, throughput is calculated by Shannon’s theorem. Numerical results show that joint Tx/Rx filtering achieves better throughput than Tx MMSE filtering.
