Abstract(in English) | The importance of on-line object tracking (OLOT) to pursue target objects in captured image frames is rapidly increasing. Because OLOT applications tend to be applied in battery-operated systems, e.g., electric automobiles and smartphones, it is strongly required to minimize energy consumption without degrading tracking accuracy. This paper describes a method of frame-rate optimization in order to satisfy that requirement. We found the frame-rate is an appropriate knob to control the system-wide energy consumption, i.e. energy for image cap- turing and that for object tracking. Our experimental results show a maximum energy reduction of 50.0%, and an average reduction of 35.9%. |
