Abstract(in English) Enhancement of optical nonlinearities for ultrafast optical signal processing technologies such as optical pulse compression is required in the arena of ultrafast photonics. Strong optical confinement in period-inverted distributed Bragg reflector, in which the period of layer arrangement is inverted with respect to that of ordinary high-reflectance distributed Bragg reflector, allows the enhancement of optical nonlinearities. The paper focuses on structural characteristics, linear optical properties, ultrafast optical nonlinear transients and ultrashort optical pulse compression based on the ultrafast optical transients with prospect for further application to ultrafast photonics technologies.
