Abstract(in English) | Previous studies have suggested that many muscles in the human body are controlled by combination of fewer muscle synergies. In this study, we estimated muscle synergies from electromyography measured during peg-movement tasks executed by able-bodied subjects and patients with hemiparesis by using nonnegative matrix factorization, and classified the synergies by using a hierarchical clustering method. As a result, the muscle synergies were roughly classified into seven groups by their patterns, and some groups had subgroups that showed high levels of cocontraction observed in patients with hemiparesis. Additionally, we observed a case in which an able-bodied subject and a patient shared similar muscle synergies and adjust its recruitment differently according to targets. |
