Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Illusion phenomena occur when we perceive external environments. The Chevreul illusion, which plays a role in emphasizing contrast, is one such phenomenon, and it is thought that it is useful for the perception of external environments. It was clarified that such an illusion could be generated by the lateral inhibition network of neurons in the retina through investigations involving numerical simulations using mathematical models or by hardware simulations using electronic circuit models. However, it is empirically known that the illusion is not always established depending on luminance difference. In this paper, we hypothesized, "luminance difference is accountable for generation of Chevreul illusion," and investigated the subjective evaluation by psychology experiments and the objective evaluation using the hardware lateral inhibition network model.
