Design of IIR Filters Using PSO with Alternative Intensification and Diversification

Abstract(in English) In this paper, a design method for IIR (Infinite Impulse Response) filters using PSO (Particle Swarm Optimization) is developed. In our previous work, an avoidance method of local minimum stagnation has been proposed, in which a penalty function is added to an objective function when the stagnation occurs. Then, an additional range of penalty function is determined by using multi-swarms. However, it requires high computational cost. In this study, a novel method which repeats a diversification and an intensification alternatively is proposed for the single-swarm PSO, in which the additional range of penalty function is fixed to a small value. Several design examples are shown to present the effectiveness of the proposed method.
