Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The SAR (Specific Absorption Rate) measurement procedure is mainly used for mobile handsets and so on. Applicability of such measurement procedure for base station antennas is evaluated in this study in detail. This report indicates that the local SAR and whole-body SAR can be obtained with the maximum difference of approximately 30% based on the measured two-dimensional SAR distribution around the surface of the phantom shell and the assumption of exponential decay of SAR in the direction of phantom depth. An example of SAR measurement for a base station antenna is shown and it is compared to the local SAR and whole-body SAR in Radio-radiation protection guidelines for human exposure to electromagnetic fields. Such results imply that the required distance for human exposure would be shorter by the confirmation process using SAR compared to that using electric field.
