[Special Invited Talk] A Novel Approach for Distributed Random Access Networks

Abstract(in English) We propose a distributed coordination function with successful transmission priority (DCF-STP) based on IEEE 802.11 DCF to prioritize the successful transmission STA. DCF-STP is a fully distributed control scheme and can achieve higher throughput and lower frame discard rate (FDR) than the conventional DCF even when STAs are densely deployed because the successful transmission STA has an opportunity to transmit the next frame without contention. We also develop a performance analytical model which enables us to estimate the throughput, frame discard rate, and the number of retransmissions in saturated wireless networks. The simulation results show the validity of the developed performance analytical model for DCF-STP and the characteristics in the coexistence of the conventional DCF and the proposed DCF-STP.
