Experimental Evaluation of Indoor Localization Method using Only RSSI of Wireless Beacons

Abstract(in English) In this report, we propose the localization method of the mobile terminal using multiple DOD (Direction-of-Departure) information calculated by RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator) of the signals transmitted from wireless beacons. The wireless beacon consists of two element array antenna, which is fed through the 180 degree and 90 degree hybrids, and four beacon-signals are transmitted with a different antenna directivity. The terminal estimates DOD by reconstructing the phase information of the propagation channels. Also, the directive probability distribution according to RSSI is introduced, and the position, where the existence probability becomes maximum, is searched. The experimental results showed the proposed method offers a location accuracy as high as an ideal estimation scheme, where the phase information is available.
