[Poster Presentation] On Extending Buffer Space of the Scavenger Queue

Abstract(in English) The Scavenger class is a less-than-best effort service, and its associated queue is assigned a low transmit rate. The objective of this poster is to evaluate the packet loss probabilities and the TCP throughput of traffic when an additional buffer size is given to the Scavenger queue. The experiments were conducted on a network with two traffic classes, i.e., best-effort and Scavenger. The results show that giving an additional buffer size to the Scavenger queue can decrease the overall loss probability of the network when the best-effort capacity is underutilized. In addition, the performance of TCP throughput was observed.
