[Poster Presentation] Prototype implementation of a field monitoring and control system

Abstract(in English) IT agriculture draws attention to perform a field sensing and control of agricultural environment. There- fore, various special devices for IT agriculture systems have been proposed. However, the installation cost of these devices is a big issue for almost all farmers because installing of IT agricultural devices costs about twice as much as installing of standard equipments. This paper develops a small reasonable prototype for IT agriculture systems with Arduino board that is a well known microcomputer board for general purposes. The prototype system consists of sensing and control devices and a gateway device. The sensing and control devices measure temperature, humidity, brightness and soil moisture by external sensors, and control the growing condition by sprinkling water. Addition- ally, they also transmit the measurement value to the gateway device. The gateway device forward the received measurement value to a web service that can manage the whole measurement value. As a result, our system can realize a reasonable IT agriculture system that can support a periodical environmental measurement and controllingenvironment.
