Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recently, ad hoc networks composed only of mobile wireless terminals (nodes) attract attention in proportion as a development of wireless technology. In ad hoc networks, communication with nodes that cannot be directly connected is available by using multi-hop transmissions in which each node sequentially relays data. On-demand routing protocols such as AODV (ad-hoc on-demand distance vector) transmit the data packets along the route that was constructed at the beginning of data communication. When a link on the data transmission route becomes unavailable by the movement or breakdown of nodes, the delay occurs due to the route reconstruction. To solve this problem, a packet forwarding method with zonal path that consists of route-neighbour nodes to decrease the delay has been proposed. However, if the neighbour nodes do not exist, the performance will be declined. This paper proposes a packet forwarding method both using route-neighbour nodes to improve communication efficiency by opportunistic forwarding and constructing the backup route in sparse areas. The proposed method achieves an improvement of the end-to-end connectivity.
