Bandwidth Enhancement of Negative Capacitance Generated by Operational Amplifier Based Negative Impedance Converter

Abstract(in English) We have succeeded to generate non-Foster reactance (negative capacitance) by using an operational amplifier OPA690 (Texas Instruments, GB product of 500MHz), but only in a frequency range from 40 MHz to 160 MHz so far. This report indicates that the upper limit of non-Foster frequency, 160 MHz, is determined by undesired inductance of circuit patterns on PCB, and proposes a method to suppress the influence of the pattern inductance by utilizing the differential behavior of operational amplifiers. In the demonstration, a negative capacitance of about -75 pF±10% is generated successfully from 64 MHz to 180 MHz.
