Abstract(in English) Long propagation delay is caused in long distance wireless local area networks (WLANs) and WLANs with a radio-over-fiber (RoF WLAN) technology. In paticular, when the WLAN with long delay like a RoF WLAN coexists with a Legacy WLAN, the propagation delay causes serious throughput degradation of the WLAN with long delay. To resolve this problem, we proposed the ATRAS scheme for improving throughput of the RoF WLAN in a coexisting environment. In this paper, we focus on throughput degradation of the RoF WLAN when traffic of the Legacy WLAN decreases. We propose the method that the AP of RoF WLAN (RoF AP) transmits frames using multiple access control schemes according to the traffic deviation. They are the backoff procedure, the piggy-back access scheme, and ATRAS scheme. Moreover, we verify effects of the proposed scheme by using computer simulation.
