Abstract(in English) | Universities are required to create social media guidelines for their students to use social media properly and safely. In order to create guidelines suitable for each university, we cannot ignore specific circumstances of each organization. In this study, we conduct a questionnaire survey to clarify social media usage of Chinese international students new to Japan. Most of them use WeChat and Weibo and do not use LINE, Twitter, and Facebook, which are popular in Japan. WeChat and Weibo, whose specifications are different from each other, are used for different purposes; The former for communication among friends and family, the latter for information gathering. We find some behaviors possible to cause trouble, which are thought to be signs of insufficient understanding of social media specifications or lack of consideration of portrait and privacy rights. Consequently, we conclude that we should create guidelines which promote a better understanding of social media specification and encourage consideration of portrait and privacy rights. |
