Abstract(in English) | IEEE802.11 MAC provides unicast and broadcast as communication methods. Broadcast or a sniffing technique which combines unicast and promiscuous receiveing are used to transmit packets to multiple terminals. However, these methods cannot provide enough reliability because of the lack of arrival acknowledgement. Thus, we propose "dualcast" which is a one-to-two communication method and is as reliable as unicast. Dualcast uses the unused field of IEEE802.11 MAC header format to indicate two receivers. Furthermore, dualcast extends IEEE802.11 MAC DCF not to collide ACK frames transmitted by the receivers. In these ways, dualcast employs the ARQ mechanism on one-to-two communication. We implemented dualcast to the network simulator for basic evaluation. The results shows that dualcast achieved the equivalent packet arrival ratio with the ratio of unicast under an environment whose frame loss ratio is 30% . |
