Abstract(in English) This report proposes power saving methods to collect rateless coded packets for wireless sensor networks.The rateless code has been applied to data gathering in wireless sensor networks.Since encoding of the rateless code is based on bitwise exclusive OR, the application of the rateless code can reduce an amount of computational complexity and power consumption. In addition, it is well known that the performance of the rateless code asymptotically approaches that of the LT (Luby Transform) code as the number of packets to be transmit for the encoding increases without any bit errors.When bit errors occur, however, transmitting many packets can deteriorate the BER performance.To alleviate the BER degradation, the proposed schemes minimize the number of packets to be transmit and thus can reduce power consumption.In addition, the schemes exploit some uncoded packets and perform soft decision decoding using bit log likelihood ratios so as to improve the BER performance furthermore.Computer simulations under fading conditions are conducted and demonstrate that the proposed schemes can improve BER of the conventional scheme by more than one order of magnitude.
