[Invited Talk] Developments of Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) and Image Recognition SoC

Abstract(in English) Recent years, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, ADAS, such as an autonomous emergency braking for vehicles and pedestrians and a lane departure warning system, have become an essential to improve a vehicle safety. In this talk, leading-edge ADAS and image recognition SoCs that are key devices of the systems are introduced. As image recognition SoCs, we introduce ViscontiTM family based on a heterogeneous architecture with multi-core processors and hardware accelerators. By optimizing for image recognition processing, they have achieved both high performance and low power consumption. Furthermore, image features are very important to improve accuracy. We introduced the CoHOG (Co-occurrence Histograms of Oriented Gradients) feature that is an extension to a HOG feature and color-based features to satisfy the requirements of Euro NCAP such as a pedestrian detection in the night-time. We have developed dedicated hardware accelerators to execute these feature calculations and image recognition processing in real-time.
