[Invited Lecture] Millimeter-wave on Your Hand in 5G

抄録(和) This paper shows the potential of using millimeter-wave (mmWave) for 5G by referring outcomes of MiWEBA and Japanese national projects. In the Enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB) application, the 5G (IMT-2020) requires peak user rate of 10Gbps and system rate gain of 1000. Such an extreme performance cannot be realized without mmWave technologies. In the Japanese national project, we have demonstrated the peak user rate of 10Gpbs by using mmWave CMOS-RF chipset, while in the MiWEBA project, we have proved the 1000x system rate gain via system level simulator including newly developed mmWave channel model and measurement based traffic model. Through the activities against WRC15, it is promised to use the mmWave band (above 6GHz) in future IMT (5G). At the last part of this paper, we?fll raise discussions about potential spectrum in millimeter-wave band for WRC19 and also about 5G ecosystems to assist the mmWave societies.
