Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this study, we investigated effects of monetary motivation on performance of a delayed response task and electroencephalogram (EEG). Reaction times were faster in conditions involving monetary incentives than in a condition without monetary incentives, indicating response facilitation by monetary motivation. By using t-statistics and sparse logistic regression (SLR), we examined EEG power spectrum during delay periods between presentation of visual stimuli instructing involvement of monetary reward or punishment and a response cue. Results of the t-statistics showed significant effects of monetary involvement at narrower frequency bands up to 20 Hz in limited EEG electrode sites, whereas information used for classification of monetary involvement by SLR was distributed over wide range of frequencies and whole electrode sites.
