[Poster Presentation] A scheduling method with traffic distribution for wireless mesh networks

Abstract(in English) Wireless mesh networks (WMNs) have been expected as temporary communication infrastructures and the extension of existing networks because of its easy installation. However, in radio communication, interference and collision lead to degrade network performance, which is one of important issues. In addition, from the viewpoint of the robust of equipment failures and traffic fluctuations, traffic load balancing within the network is also important. In this report, we propose a scheduling algorithm that exploits traffic distribution to improve network throughput in WMNs. By focusing on the fact that neighbor links at the gateway are likely to be congested, the proposed method utilizes metrics different every hops to realize traffic distribution, resulting in improvement of network throughput and load balancing among nodes. From simulation-based evaluations, the proposed method can improve network throughput and fairness of load among nodes by up to 15% and 238%, respectively comparedwith conventional scheduling algorithms
