Trial of Frontal Knee Joint Alignment Measurement by using a Camera Image for Prevention of Knee Osteoarthritis

Abstract(in English) It is commonly thought that the change of the loading axis by the abnormality of the femorotibial angle (FTA) is the most important factor for progression of the knee osteoarthritis. However, patients will take a risk of suffering from X-ray exposure since measuring FTA is made by X-ray image. Then, we proposed a method to measure alignment of the knee joint in the frontal plane without radiation exposure. In this paper, we investigated the correlation between our proposed method and FTA. From results, it was found that there was strong correlation between FTA and this method (r=0.944, p<0.01).
